Central line suffers severe delays ahead of busy commuter rush hour period

Commuters could have to endure Friday (December 2) evening rush hour torment on the Central line.

Transport for London (TfL) said severe the delays, which started at 12.40pm, have been caused by a fault identified on the line at North Acton.

It is hopeful the fault will be fixed before peak travel resumes in the next few hours.

But irate Tube users have wasted little time expressing their frustration and anger in a week which has been Tube services suffer several delays .

Taking to Twitter, one user said: “Ahem, this is becoming a joke now.”

Another user, Jack Bannister, asked: “Why do TfL provide such a consistent despicable service? I’ve been waiting in the cold for 31 minutes and counting.”

A TfL spokesman apologised for the inconvenience caused, and said tickets were being accepted on local buses, Chiltern, Greater Anglia and Great Western railways.

Speaking to getwestlondon , she said: “Hopefully we will have the repair sorted imminently.

"I hope it will be fixed before the rush hour.

"I’ve been advised it will be happening shortly.

“If we can get it fixed shortly is should move to minor delays for the peak period, and hopefully a good period.”

The Central line cuts a swathe through west London, starting at Hillingdon and Ealing and moving through stations including White City, Shepherd's Bush, Holland Park and Notting Hill Gate before continuing to the east of the city.

It also suffered severe delays this week when a person was struck by a train at Holland Park station .
